Cyclones beat Warriors to Qualify for Region Tourney

The Cyclones defeated their Central Division rivals the Warriors of Ridgewater College of Willmar to win the best two of three series to advance to the Region 13 Tournament to be held at the Municipal Athletic Complex at the Dick Putz and Joe Faber Fields.

 

 

STTCC CYCLONES 8              RIDGEWATER WARRIORS 0   (5/11/2018)

 

The Cyclones defeated their North Division rivals, the Warriors in the first of a two of three game series. Austin Gohl a freshman from Sartell-St. Stephen High School, started on the mound, he threw six innings to earn the win. He gave up just one hit, he issued five walks and he recorded five strikeouts. Brad White a freshman from Alief Hastings High School of Houston, Texas threw 1/3 of an inning, he recorded one strikeout. Cole Wellman a freshman from New Ulm High School retired the last batters of the game, he recorded one strikeout. The Cyclones center fielder, Luis Massa Ortiz, a freshman from the Republic of CR High School of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico went 1-2 with a double, a stolen base and he scored two runs. Matt Quade a sophomore from Paynesville High School went 1-2 for a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored two runs. Carlos Reyes, the Cyclones catcher from Hialeah Florida went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for three big RBIs. Larry Rodriquez, a freshman from Labelle High School of Clewiston, Florida went 1-3 with a double and Logan Aleshire a freshman from St. Cloud Tech High School went 1-4 with a RBI. Nathan Pierantoni a freshman from Westwood Christian High School of Miami, Florida went 1-1, he earned a walk and he scored two runs. Alex Jinkins a sophomore form Altoona High School of Altoona, Wisconsin earned a walk, Ethan Carlson of St. Cloud Apollo High School scored a run and Zach Fuecker earned a walk and he scored one run.

 

The Warriors, Jaime Garcia was the starting pitcher and pitcher of record. Joseane Rios went 1-2 and he earned a walk. Jaime Garcia, Noah Herried, Armando Olmeda and Kenneth Cruz all earned walks.

 

 

 

RIDGEWATER WARRIORS 7     STTCC CYCLONES 4   (5/11/2018)

 

The Warriors defeated the Cyclones in game No. 2 of the series, backed by a solid pitching performance by a pair of the Warrior arms. Jorge Ramos started on the mound, he threw 6 1/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up seven hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered four runs and he recorded one strikeout. Colton Blain threw 2/3 of an inning to close it out, he gave up one hit. The Warriors had eight players that collected a hit, Jaime Garcia went 1-4 for a RBI and he scored a run. Joseanne Rios went 1-3 for a RBI and he scored a run. Armondo Olmeda went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Kenneth Cruz went 2-3 and he scored a run. Devin Zonick Greenwald went 1-2 and he scored a pair of runs and Diego Bermudez went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Jean Carlos Morales went 1-2 with a sacrifice fly and he scored a run, Jose DeLeon went 1-3 and Noah Herried scored a run.

 

The Cyclones, Christian Delgado, a sophomore from Colegio Hector Urdaneta of San Juan, Puerto Rico threw 3 2/3 innings, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up seven hits, issued one walk, surrendered six runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Brad White threw 3 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up two hits, issued one walk, surrendered one run and he recorded six strikeouts. Luis Massa Ortiz went 1-3 with a home run for two RBIs and Brady Burgau a freshman from Alexandria High School went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run. Alex Jinkins went 1-2 with a double and Matt Quade went 1-4 and he scored a run. Zach Fuecker went 1-4 and Larry Rodriquez went 1-3. Jose Rosario had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Carlos Reyes was credited with a RBI. Matt Johnson a sophomore from Sauk Rapids High School had a stolen base, Ethan Carlson had a stolen base and he scored a run ad Logan Aleshire earned a walk.

The Cyclones clinched the series over Ridgewater with a good pitching from from Hunter Malachek, a freshman from Maple Lake High School. He started on the mound, he threw six innings, he scattered seven hits and he recorded eight strikeouts. Logan Aleshire threw the final inning in relief, he issued one walk. Ethan Carlson the Cyclones right fielder went 1-2 with a double for a RBI, he had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Matt Quade went 1-1 for two big RBIs and he earned a pair of walks. Larry Rodriquez went 1-3 with a RBI and Luis Massa Ortiz went 1-3, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Nathan Pereira went 1-3 and he scored a run and Alex Jinkins went 1-2. Zach Fuecker was credited with two RBIs, with a sacrifice fly and he earned a walk and Matt Johnson had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs.

 

The Warriors, Ashton Knutson was the starter and pitcher of record. Noah Harried went 2-3 and Devin Zonick Greenwald went 1-3. Armando Oemeda went 1-3 and Jean Carlos Morales went 1-3. Jose DeLeon Went 1-2, Kenneth Cruz went 1-2 and Zack Stockman earned a walk.
