Cyclones outpace Caimans en route to First Round Win at the NJCAA National Tournament

The Cyclones Men's Basketball Team entered their first National Tournament against Hostos (NY) as an #11 seed earning an At-Large berth last week when the brackets were announced.  The Cyclones opened up their first appearance with a 106-101 victory over the #6 seeded Hostos.  The Cyclones lead at halftime 53-48 helped in large part from the 3 point arc.  The Cyclones shot 10-18 in the first half from behind the arc.  Sophomores Torez Kinchen (14), Paul Coleman (12) Eric Racine (11) and Taye Carter (11) provided the lionshare of the scoring for the Cyclones.  

 

The second half saw the Cyclones grow or maintain their lead.  Eric Racine scored 18 of his team high 29 in the second half.  The Cyclones got to the line in the second half due to Hostos full pressure defense.  The Cyclones took advantage going 24-30 from the line in the second half.  The Cyclones withstood a strong Caimans comeback in the waning moments hanging on to a 106-101 victory.  

The Cyclones advance to take on the Eastfield Harvesters Thursday night.  The scheduled tip time is 8pm in Rochester.  Eastfield enters the tournament with a 26-6 record.
