SB: Cyclones sweep #4 Anoka Ramsey, Take MCAC South Lead

Cyclones Softball took a big step towards claiming their 4th consecutive MCAC Southern Division title by sweeping Anoka Ramsey Friday at River's Edge Park.

Game 1

The Cyclones came out ready in the bottom of the 1st inning plating 4 runs.  This proved to be the only run support Ashley Pool needed though the Cyclons tacked on 3 more runs in the 3rd inning to bring the lead to 7-1.  Anoka Ramsey came back to score 1 run in each of the 5th and 7th innings.  For the game, Pool scattered 12 hits and ultimately allowed 3 runs.  She struck out 4 Golden Rams in her complete game win.  The Cyclones played sound defense in the field.

Every Cyclone in the lineup had at least 1 hit.  Regan Jastram led the Cyclones with 3 hits.  Kristen Mueller and Pool chipped in 2 hits.  The Cyclones were aided in their efforts by 5 Golden Ram errors.

Game 2

In game 2, Anoka Ramsey jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st.  The Golden Rams showed why they were ranked fourth in the country entering the contest. In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Cyclones got one run back.  In the circle, Regan Jastram settled down after the first allowing no other Golden Ram runs in the contest.  In the bottom of the second, the Cyclones threw 5 runs up leading 6-2.  The Cyclones would tack on 3 runs in the third inning and 6 runs in the fourth inning, defeating Anoka Ramsey 15-2 in five innings.

Game 2 was similar to game 1 with 7 of the 9 hitters in the lineup registering a hit.  Regan Jastram led the way once again going 4-4 with 6 RBI's including a bases clearing triple.  Ashley Pool had 2 hits and 3 RBI's, Paige Falde had 3 hits and 2 RBI's.

With the wins, the Cyclones improved to 6-0 in the conference and 19-12 overall.  The Cyclones close out the conference schedule next week when they host Ridgewater and M-State.
