Final Week of the Regular Season Approaches

The Cyclones traveled to Willmar on Wednesday to face the Warriors of Ridgewater College.  The two teams were tied for first place in the MCAC South and the Cyclones had already defeated the Warriors at home 3-1 in early September.  The final scores of this outstanding match were 20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 13-15 in favor of Ridgewater.  Kalie Jergens, sophomore outside hitter from Becker, led with 16 kills and 5 service aces.  Kalli Mathiasen, sophomore setter from Apollo, ran the offense with 39 set assists. Sophomore libero from Rocori, Chelsea Schroeder, led the defense with 27 digs. 

Thursday the Cyclones went to Anoka Ramsey Community College for the MCAC Crossover Tournament and faced Northland and Itasca and defeated both teams 3-0.  Stat leaders versus Northland include Anastasia Larson, first year middle from Big Lake, led with 11 kills and 4 blocks.  Schroeder earned 22 digs while Mathiasen accrued 31 set assist.  McKayla Quade, sophomore middle from Paynesville, and Mathiasen each had 2 aces.  In the Cyclones' win over Itasca, Jergens led in kills with 12, Mathiasen earned 31 set assists and Schroeder claimed 20 digs. 

The Cyclones are now 20-6 overall, 10-3 in the MCAC South and ranked 6th nationally.  The Cyclones host their final match of the regular season on Friday, October 27th at 6:30pm at the Whitney Center.
