Cyclones debut at #9 on NJCAA poll, Hohbein & Nelson named MCAC PotW

With the Cyclones Volleyball season underway, the team has already nabbed a top-ten spot in the NJCAA national rankings, and two players have been recognized as MCAC Players of the Week.

Rilee Hohbein, a sophomore from Holidingford, was named the MCAC Hitter of the Week. She had 38 kills and hit .308 the last week, where the Cyclones had a 4-0 performance at the College of DuPage Tournament.

Tori Nelson, a sophomore from Willmar, snapped up the Defensive Player of the Week title. Nelson leads the MCAC in total digs and had a single-game high of 41 digs against Harper College last weekend at the tournament.

Kamryn D'Heilly, a freshman from Annandale, was named Hitter of the Week for the week of Aug. 26. She had 40 kills and a .444 hitting percentage at the Cyclones' MCAC Crossover Tournament held Aug. 23-24.

The first NJCAA Division III National Poll came out Sept. 3, and the Cyclones squeaked into the top ten at the 9th spot.

The team is 7-1 overall after starting the season Aug. 23, during which they played in two tournaments. The Cyclones meet Anoka-Ramsey at home on Wednesday, Sept. 4 then travel to Minnesota West for a Friday, Sept. 6 game.
