Cyclones outlast Riverland in Overtime, claims share of Division Title

The Cyclones traveled to Divsion leading Riverland to close out the 2018-2019 regular season.  The Cyclones found themselves on the winning end of an overtime thriller 99-92 clinching a share of the MCAC South title.  This is the first time for the Cyclones in their 9 year run in MCAC Basketball.  

The Cyclones withstood a strong Riverland start eventually taking a 38-37 halftime lead.  The second half continued to be a back and forth affair.  The Cyclones missed a chance at the buzzer to win in regulation.  The teams entered overtime tied at 82.  The Blue Devils scored the first 5 points in the extra session.  The Cyclones responded with 6 straight of their own at the hands of Dillon Haider who's timely 3's brough the Cyclones ahead to 88-87. the Cyclones grabbed a brief 2 point lead with a Jimmie McAfee Free Throw.  The Blue Devils tied the game at 89.  Another McAfee Free throw and a Jazz Boker basket gave the Cyclones a 3 point lead they wouldn't relinquish.  Eric Racine made some crucial free throws to ensure the away vicotry for the Cyclones.  Racine led the Cyclones with 34 points.  Paul Coleman chipped in 21 points of his own. Haider (12 points) and Boker (10 points) were the other Cyclones in double figures.  

The Cyclones play on Friday, March 1st in the NJCAA Region XIII tournament hosted by Anoka Ramsey CC.  The Cyclones will be the #2 seed from the South after losing a postgame coin toss.  The Cyclones will meet up with the #3 team from the North, Rainy River CC.  The Voyageurs finished 11-5 in the North and own a 16-10 record overall.
