The SCTCC men's basketball team traveled to Fergus Falls, MN over the weekend to compete in the Spartan Classic.  The two games matched the #8 ranked Cyclones against two MCAC nothern division opponents, in Itasca CC and Mesabi Range CTC.  This marked the second time this season in which SCTCC has faced both of those programs.

Friday

In the first matchup of the season the Cyclones beat the Itasca CC Vikings on the road 86-77 in a closely contested game.  The neutral site matchup between the teams proved to be a little easier on SCTCC as the team came away with a 92-72 victory.  In the first half however the Cyclones had to knock off some rust after not playing since December 11th.  The team jumped out to a 13 point advantage at the half, but had an un-characteristic 9 TOs.  The Cyclones limited themselves to 5 TOs in the second half and went 5-9 from three helping extend their advantage over the Vikings.  Six players scored in double figures, including 18 from Keshawn Sutton, 17 from both Dillon Haider and Paul Coleman.  Freshman Taye Carter added another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Sophomore Jazz Boker added a game high 13 rebounds for the Cyclones.

Saturday

The second day of the Spartan Classic had the Cyclones competing against the Norseman of Mesabi Range.  For the second day in a row, SCTCC jumped out to a 13 point advantage at the half behind some hot shooting from beyond the arc.  The Cyclones shot 8-19 from the three point line in the first 20 minutes.  After the break, the team pushed the lead out to as many as 26 points by spreading the scoring out.  All 9 Cyclones contributed in the scoring column in the 92-80 win over Mesabi Range.  Eric Racine came off the bench to lead the team with 18 poiints and Sophomore Jimmie McAfee added a season high 17 points including 7/10 from the free throw line.  Jazz Boker came back with another great effort on the glass adding a double-double of his own with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cyclones (11-0) will now begin MCAC divisional play beginning Wednesday with a home game versus Anoka-Ramsey.
