Cyclones win Conference, will host Region Tournament
A single makeup game versus Rochester was all that was sitting in the way of their 5 consecutive MCAC South title. The Cyclones made quick work of the road weary Yellowjackets with a 9-1 victory. Rochester reached River's Edge Park after a double header earlier in the day in Willmar and had played at Fergus Falls the night before.
The Cyclones got to work quickly against the Yellowjackets scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Cyclones tacked on 2 more runs in the 3rd inning. Rochester scored their sole run in the 4th inning. The 5th inning proved to be the final inning when the Cyclones plated 5 runs to take claim a 9-1 victory.
Sam Patton got the victory while scattering 4 Rochester hits.
The Cyclones will host the NJCAA Region XIIIA Tournament at River's Edge Park in Waite Park on May 17-18th. The Cyclones are joined by Anoka Ramsey CC and M-State. The final spot will be determined Monday when Ridgewater and Rochester meet for a play in game.
