Cyclones drop to 1-2 in loss to Hibbing

The Cyclones headed north to Hibbing for an early season interstate match up. The Cyclones entered the game 1-1 on season, while this was the Cardinals opening game of the season.

Both teams came out applying pressure and looking for an uptempo type of game. Early on the Cyclones were able to handle the pressure and convert on the offensive end. Both teams had problems taking care of the ball leading to several unforced turnovers. As the the early energy settled down, the tempo of the game settled down as well. The Cardinals were able to execute in the half court and score consistently all night. Hibbing also kept the pressure on and in the closing minutes of the first half were able to take a 9 point lead into the lockerroom.

The Cyclones started out hot again in the second half and forced Hibbing to take an early timeout to settle things down. The 3rd quarter was back and forth as both teams were able to force turnovers and convert on the offensive end. Heading into the forth quarter as the crowd grew and the student section was into the game, the Cardinals were able to gain the momentum and stiffle the Cyclones outside shooting. The Cardinals executed in the half court scoring several times in the paint. The Cyclones didn't have enough shots left in them to complete the comeback as Hibbing pulled away late in the 4th quarter to secure the victory 66 - 55.

Next up for the Cyclones will be highly ranked Iowa Western on Sat Nov. 25
